Procedure: Restorative Surgery
(Warning some items have graphic surgical images).
Cosmetic Concern: 56-year-old woman with a history of prior eyelid surgery and cheek implants. She did not like the loss of the shape of the eyes and left that she had too much volume in her cheeks.
Diagnosis: The lower eyelids were pulled down by the surgery. She has cheek implants that do not support the lower eyelids.
Treatment:The cheek implants were removed. They were replaced with a smaller profile, custom, hand carved orbital rim implant made from ePTFE. A vertical midface lift was performed to recruit skin into the lower eyelid without the need for a skin graft. The shape of the lower eyelid was controlled with a hard palate graft. Finally, bilateral lateral canthoplasties were performed to restore size and shape of the eyes.
