Asian Eyelid Surgery
- Notes: 32 year old woman desires a double eyelid fold. She has a rudimentary crease in the upper eyelids. This leaves her with no place to apply eyeliner on the upper eyelid. Asian eyelid surgery is not about Westernizing the eyelid. Rather it is about conserving normal eyelid structure while at the same time providing complementary eyelid definition to produce the desired result. Typically this type of surgery involves about a week of downtime.
- Notes: 59-year-old man bothered by the fullness in the lower eyelids. Diagnosis: Herniated lower eyelid fat. Lower eyelid wrinkles. Sun damaged skin. Treatment: Transconjunctival lower eyelid surgery. Lower eyelid chemical peel. Lower eyelid surgery reduced the fullness of the lower eyelid by removing eyelid fat. This tends to deflate the lower eyelid and slightly increase the lower eyelid wrinkles. The chemical peel performed at the time of the lower eyelid surgery, helps to firm the lower eyelid skin and reduce this tendency and avoids the need for surgery to remove the excess lower eyelid skin.

- Notes: 56-year-old woman with heavy upper eyelids. Preservation natural eyelid fullness and the upper eyelid fold are very important to maintain a natural appearance. Dr. Steinsapir uses an approach that he calls Micro-Blepharoplasty to structure the eyelid.
- Notes: 29-year-old woman with prior unsatisfactory eyelid surgery. She feels too much of the upper eyelid folds were removed, Westernizing her upper eyelids. By correcting the upper eyelid ptosis, the excessive amount of exposed upper eyelid platform was reduced placing the upper eyelid folds in better balance with the upper eyelid folds. Although it is very difficult to increase the size of the upper eyelid fold, the presence of upper eyelid ptosis created the opportunity to restore upper eyelid harmony. Properly lid platform design was critical to achieve the result.
- Notes: 29-year-old woman with prior two prior unsatisfactory non-incisional crease surgeries. Desires to have a right eye that matches the left eyelid. Using the Micro-Blepharoplasty approach developed by Dr. Steinsapir, he was able to make a hard crease in the right upper eyelid that accomplished what this woman was looking for.
