Cosmetic Concern: 46-year old woman with a stable weight, who desires sculpting of her inner and outer thighs and tops of the hips.
Diagnosis: Massive localized adiposity of the waist, inner and outer thighs.
Treatment: Tumescent liposuction of the inner and outer thighs as well as the flanks. Four liters of fat was removed.
Discussion: Liposuction is about sculpting. It is not just for little nothings with just a cup of unwanted fat. Shaping the body is beneficial whenever there is a localized build-up of excess fat that can be addressed. Unless the diet or the amount of exercise changes, the body will eventually regain all of this weight. The key is that it will be more evenly distributed. Provided the weight is stable the improvement will be relatively permanent.
